Could be a busy busy day for trader Bob. Even on a gameday.. We're getting younger for sure by the minute...
Now don't go giving Montour's savings to Del Zotto, but being he's an ex Canuck probably will with a NMC..... |

Personally, I'm conflicted about the Montour deal - which likely means it's a good deal for both sides. I think the Ducks may have sold low on him, but I also think he would have been pricey to resign in his next deal.
Would have preferred Borgen or a high-end forward not named Nylander, but Guhle is a solid pick-up. I'm sure his friendship with Manson also helped sell the deal to the locker room, as well. |

I’d be intrigued by Getzlaf if the Ducks were willing to eat some salary |

Guhle can skate and has upside potential but his development seemed to have flat-lined in the Sabres organization. Hopefully he does well for the Ducks. I always liked Guhle. Regarding the 1st, your scouts seem to do well in the 20 - 31 range so you should see something out of that slot in 3 years or so.
What's an objective take on Montour? |

Montour was can skate as well as almost any defenseman. He has smooth soft hands and can set-up the play very well. He is a true offensive defenseman. I would say his play without the puck is a little less desirable. He has been known to cough up the puck in the in his own end when there is pressure on him and he seems to make some questionable pinches causing 2-1 or breakaways the other way.
I do believe he would slot in nicely as a 2nd/3rd pairing offensive defenceman for Buffalo. |

I can't say that I'm upset or anything right now. But I'm not happy either. We're gonna have to slog through this last 20 games without montour. And that's a blow. Mainly because now we have to work another dman into the rotation that hasn't been there. And that's gonna create some uncertainty.
Montour is very talented. He never seemed to settle into a line like with Lindholm or Fowler. He had an extensive shot with Lindholm and things Didn't work well. Hampus likes to control the puck and make safe zone exits often waiting for the right opportunity. And Montours turn and burn style didn't fit. Brandon actually had his best work with Fowler last year. But Randy Carlyle never put them back together. Don't know why.
Anyways it sounds like Buffalo is tring to do uptempo play and Montour should do well.

Montour will probably be a very good defenseman once he figures out the defensive side of things in a couple years. Having a coach like Housley will only help him.
That being said (and after watching all of one game with Guhle in the lineup), Bob got a decent return. I'd say good deal for both sides. Guhle definitely has an NHL future. We just need McNab and the scouting department to find a good player later in the 1st round.
As for the Ducks and the rest of this season, I fully expect Terry, Steel, and Jones to get extended opportunities.
